  Scuba Diving Lessons in Tampa

        Jim Gregory         Custom Scuba Instruction

Save Snapper Ledge

When it comes to the initial certification, I'm not the cheapest, nor will we set record times when we get you certified.  But, you only have to get certified once; you ought to get a sound foundation. We'll cover the basic skills & then some. I'll share some experiences & scenarios and we'll discuss possible responses.  We'll talk about your interests and preview some continuing education you might need to get the most out of diving.

Tell me what your interests are (contact me) and I'll send you an estimate:

PADI Open Water Instruction         $300 each, minimum 2 students

PADI Advanced Open Water           $175 each, minimum 2 students

PADI Specialties:

Enriched Air Specialty (Nitrox)        $100        (PADI no longer requires dives)

Deep or Wreck (4 dives)                $250

Navigator or Night Diver (3 dives)   $200

Digital UW Photography (2 dives)   $200 (includes 2 hours of intro to photo editing)

All other specialties                      $150

Because there will be choices you have to make regarding travel, accommodations and availability with dive operators will vary, I've quoted my rates for instruction and will give you an idea of prices on the rest. We'll have to pin down the actual cost when we schedule.

Training materials:  They vary in cost depending on the course, but PADI materials add less than $50 to the cost.

In the Keys: Dive operators charge from $65 to $75 for each 2 tank trip. The Open Water certification requires 4 dives. Advanced Open Water certification is 5 dives. Specialties take from 2 to 4 dives. In the Keys, accommodations range from budget (off the water, clean & comfortable) at $70/night to nice (on the water but not fancy) $115-130/night and fancy (on the water plus some extras) at $175/night or more.

In the Tampa area: Weeki Wachee Springs is convenient & meets PADI certification requirements as an Open Water dive site. So, we can get you certified. However, it really doesn't provide a 'real' dive experience...  corals, critters, etc. Add $45 for each day at Weeki.
